Open door policy at Silks & Sapphires
Now that King Argrath has done me the honour of investing me as baron for my services on the battlefield, I am delighted to announce that there will no longer be any restrictions on who may shop at the emporium. Please feel free to browse at leisure in the knowledge that no unfortunate social faux pas will occur that might lead to duels and ruin any newly purchased garments.

My dear BARON Grumbold,
I shall be heading through your premises doors this coming season, especially as I need a new outfit to fit my status.
Regards,
Torben

My dear Drighten Torben,
Might I suggest that as a gentleman of newfound rank, prestige and ample means, you consider updating all your outfits? Daywear, eveningwear, leisurewear, plus a selection of uniforms for campaign season? Not just the bare minimum of one new outfit for the Royal Ball. It wouldn't do for a Bvt Warchief to look anything less than polished and gore-free after a hard day smiting the enemy with your battle magics. We can also consider updating your campaign tent and travelling accoutrements. Silk sheets for the mahogany travel bed, silver-inlaid and monogrammed salver, shaving kit and polishing kit. Nothign too ostentatious, of course. All in the best possible taste.
During campaign season I intend to receive supplies of decorative materials for furnishing the handsome properties many are acquiring. I'm confident you too will soon want to move out of rented accommodation into somewhere more suited for social entertaining and perhaps raising a family?

Grumbold, dear fellow......you've sold it to me......I'll come along and splash the cash, as I've heard say! Lunars no problem, I'm fairly minted and you can't take it with you, as I've also heard said, so get everything ready, I'll hire a cart to take it all back home....to my new Small Mansion that I'm also going for too, you convinced me on that as well! What a good salesman you are and if only my trade acumen were half decent enough to even contemplate going into business you'd be my inspiration. Sadly, I can barely add a hand full of beans together or negotiate a haggle.grumbold99 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 4:51 pm My dear Drighten Torben,

Re: Open door policy at Silks & Sapphires
My dear Torben,
When you have developed as fine a skill as you possess at liberating Lunars from the clutches of the Empire's baggage trains, one hardly need stoop so low as to actually haggle when spending some of it! It could be said by some to be below a man of your new station in life. But since I aspire to such a station myself, I will not say such a foolish thing. It would be wholly unbecoming a servant of Issaries like myself to quit haggling merely because they became ennobled.
Happy spending. Perhaps we can even indulge in a little haggling over a glass of wine or flagon of ale when you drop by the Emporium?

You're a man after my own heart, stout fellow, top man, decent chap etc etc.
Coming from the humble background that I do, one steeped in generations of latrine building, lavvy maintenance and sewage disposal all of this Sartar nobility business has quite taken me by surprise! It was only a few years ago that I was standing next to father, knee deep in the old effluent and all that and yet now....now....I suddenly find myself elevated to the status of both Drighten and Brevet War chief!! How mercurial life can be eh!
Added to that is the wealth of lunars I find myself wallowing in, more dosh than I've ever seen in my life and the world's my oyster when it comes to spending it....hurrah! Haggling over a flagon of ale....hooray to that....if I were a betting man I'd say you'd be odds on for winning that one, by the Gods I doubt I could even hold my own against an infant when it comes to trading. You see, to be honest, Grumbold I have been most fortunate....for some unknown reason....to get to where I am today, hapless when it comes to trading, blessed (maybe that should be cursed) with the constitution of a weedy pigeon, lacking any real understanding of which way up to hold a sword...or spear.....or axe....or, indeed, any weapon......a family lineage that a tusk rider would put shame to.....it' a miracle that I am where I am!
Luckily I am seemingly indifferent to the fate of my numerous chests of lunar pillage, might as well give them to you then anyone else (including that Broar Hofarson fellow who keeps contacting me for money) as I know you could put them to better use than me. Thus, I agree, tell me where to sign and I'll happily meet up with you for a few beers.
Torben
P.S As much as I like him please don't invite that Quatlu chap, what with all this need to challenge business and him having that big...sharp...shiny axe...
