1632 - 11 (Early Storm) - Turn Report

Post by Puckohue »

In early Storm Season in Boldhome, the skies churn with restless, bruised clouds and the winds howl through the mountain passes like impatient warhorns. The air is thick with the scent of rain and ozone, and the sudden squalls can turn streets into torrents in minutes. This is the season when the Air Gods stride most fiercely across the world. They are tempestuous, quick to anger, and impossible to predict. Farmers, merchants, and warriors alike tread carefully, for a quarrel or mishap now can grow into a feud that lasts a year, and the chaos unleashed in these weeks may give darker forces a hidden foothold. It is a time of raw power and vigilance, when the memory of the War of the Gods feels perilously close.

But even in this season, there is light. Oneldna gave birth to Grumbold’s son Andrin.

Duels
The noble Selena had cause against Lt Warlord Grumbold to a duel, but at the appointed time and place, he did not appear.

Similarly, Drighten Erik for Baron Harold. He did eventually turn up, only to lay his sword at Erik’s feet and immediately surrender, and declaring that he will volunteer for his tribal levy due to the shame he has brought upon himself.

Drighten Erik had also asked the King’s Champion, Dargva Saliinsdaughter, to challenge Baron Harold. She did, and the duel is to be fought at Harold’s return from the front.

Titles
King Argrath decided to bestow upon Lt Warlord Drighten Erik the title of Lord, and upon Bvt Warchief Baron Torben the title of Drighten. Drighten Erik is invited to the Royal Feast in the first week of Late Storm Season (1632-12). Failure to attend will result in the title offer being withdrawn. Baron Torben, being at the front, will receive an invitation to a royal event after Sacred Time.

Ranks
Ten-thane Ararg mustered all the influence he could to successfully persuade Hundred-thane Foralastsdaughter of Mularik’s Company to resign. He then bought the rank for himself.

Drighten Erik resigned from Mularik’s Company, citing his duties as a City Ring Member as reason.

Appointments
City Ring Member Drighten Erik appointed Baron Torben as his aide. City Ring Member Orannega Oranieensdaughter (M) renewed Grumbold’s appointment as her aide. Selena replaced Baron Rufus as Aide to City Ring Member Vadar Farasinson (M).

Cult Ranks
Before his brigade left for the front, Baron Julian was promoted to Rune Lord of Orlanth.

Volunteers
Despite the winter weather, many warriors left Boldhome to head for Tarsh and the front against the Lunar Empire. Among them were Lt Warlord Garoor and his battalion of Snakepipe Dancers joining up with the rest of the regiment. Brigadier Quatlu brought the entire Royal Footguards, but left Mularik’s Company in Boldhome. Hundred-thane Baroness Ivarenna of Mularik’s decided to volunteer her battalion and joined Quatlu.

Baron Harold left his command behind and volunteered to the Kheldon tribal levy.

Money Matters
Drighten Erik engaged in conspicuous consumption. Baron Rufus became a regular at The Storm Cloud.

Week 1
Drighten Erik hosted his pre-wedding party at The Storm Cloud. Among the participants were Bvt Warchief Afur with Sod, Hundred-thane Ararg with Morshi, and Warlord Baron Rufus with Daraea.

Brystan was at the Storm Bull temple, practicing the spear.

Week 2
This was the week of the marriage of Erik and Yealla. The guests were the same as at the pre-wedding party. The marriage was officiated by High Priestess Teganeth.

Initiate Selena participated in an Issaries ceremony at the market, showing conspicuous piety.

Week 3
Baron Rufus and Ararg participated in a ceremony at the temple of Orlanth, Baron Rufus showing conspicuous piety. Selena did her second week of cult duties in an Issaries ceremony at the market.

Drighten Erik participated in his first Ring Assembly as a Member of the City Ring.

Week 4
At King’s Court it was time for the Royal Brawling Contest, but before the games began, Bvt Warchief Afur was bestowed with the title of Baron by King Argrath.

Barons Afur and Rufus and Drighten Erik participated in the games without much success. The winner was Dangonarl Oarlson of the Malani.

Selena raised a few eyebrows as she arrived at The Scribbled Scroll to carous with Arng, Erinestra’s (apparently former) lover. Erinestra definately has cause for duel now.

Ararg participated in a ceremony at the temple of Orlanth, showing conspicuous piety and toadying to the chief priest.

War
Orders were given to lay siege to two strategic Tarshite villages north and west of Kordros Island.

Guards Brigade
The Guards Brigade, or most of it, laid siege to the village of Crimson Acre. It sits on the road between Furthest and the Temple of the Reaching Moon. It sits upon a bend in the river, with an ornate bridge providing a crossing. Most buildings are clean whitewashed farmhouses with red tiled roofs. Many houses have mosaic floors and frescoes of rural life. A temple to the Seven Mothers and another to the terrible Hon-eel the Dancer stand on a low rise. The village is surrounded by maize fields which the Lunars fertilize with blood sacrifices.

The general outcome of the siege was inconclusive. Brigadier Quatlu showed bravery and was mentioned in a battlesong (and came upon some minor loot). His brigade-thane Julian would have been promoted had there been a vacancy, but was compensated with being mentioned in a battlesong.

Royal Foot Guards
The acting regimental commander Lt Warlord Grumbold did an excellent job and showed personal bravery. He was mentioned in two battlesongs, looted more than a thousand Lunars, and will be considered no less than three times for a title.

Mularik’s Company
The only present battalion of the regiment was led by Baroness Ivarenna. The battalion was one of few Sartarite units that managed to set foot inside the village. The baroness showed bravery during the storming and was promoted to Lt Warlord and mentioned in a battlesong. While in the village she also looted well over a thousand Lunars. She will be considered for a title.

Steelcrag
The rest of the Sartarite forces laid siege to Steelcrag. Sitting on the opposite bank of the Oslir to Furthest, Steelcrag is a stonewalled village sitting at the base of a crag of stone rising 160m above the river. A large watchtower is mounted at the top of the crag and forms part of the defences of Furthest. The village has a small river harbour, but the Oslir River runs fast and dangerous at this point and is almost uncrossable.
Steelcrag has a small temple to the Seven Mothers and Hon-eel. The temple to the Seven Mothers has a large shrine to the Lunar warrior god Yanafal Tarnils in which sits an iron scimitar known as the Eternal Steel. The word “steel” is apparently New Pelorian for “iron”.

Snakepipe Dancers
Bvt Warchief Baron Torben, with support from the less successful regiments, was the one riding first into the conquered village as the siege broke the defences. He showed personal bravery, was mentioned in a battlesong and looted almost a thousand Lunars. He will be considered for a title.
Lt Warlord Garoor also showed bravery and had been promoted had there been a vacancy. But he was mentioned in a battlesong, looted more than a thousand Lunars, and will be considered for a title.

Sambari Tribal Levy
The levy had a supportive role with an inconclusive outcome.

Free Philosophers
The attached battalion of the Free Philosophers led by Lt Warlord Erinestra was broken by a Lunar counter-attack. Erinestra was in spite of this mentioned in a battlesong, and is no longer considered disgraced.

Kheldon Tribal Levy
This levy also had a supportive role with an inconclusive outcome.

Lt Warlord Harold fought well and will be considered for a title.
