In memoriam Eodal

I will be hosting a party at the Red Beaver in week 3 to commemorate Eodal's passing. I am truly sorry to have killed a potential customer and so invite everyone to come and have a dram in his memory. Sadly everyone to bear their own costs, on the other hand I will offer a 20L purse to the best poem recited in his memory. To get the ball rolling:

Eodal whose life was bright
Whose passing in the pursuit of love
Will always remain a shining light
Even as he heads above

Ahem, I am sure many can do better. I am looking at all you Orlanthi poets here.

In a land of chivalry and might,
Where honor ruled both day and night,
Lived a man named Eodal, strong and true,
Whose love for his paramour shone like dew.

But another looked, with envy's eyes,
Sought to steal Eodal's greatest prize,
And challenged him to a duel of steel,
To prove who was worthy of their appeal.

Eodal, valiant and without fear,
Accepted the challenge, and took up his spear,
And met his foe on the arena floor,
To see who would meet their paramour.

The blades clashed and sparks did fly,
As the two fought on, determined to vie,
But fate had chosen a cruel path,
And Eodal was felled by his opponent's wrath.

As he lay dying, deaths final bell,
Their soul departing its mortal shell,
As Eodal's spirit made to depart,
Honor maintained, with a valiant heart.

So let us remember the man named Eodal,
Whose love and honor stood so tall,
And honor his memory with every breath,
For at least he lived before his death.

What an amazing poem! Such, err, rhyming and, you know, it scans!

Encore!

There once was a chap called Eodal,
Who duelled with Erinestra at a social,
While good with a spear,
It soon became clear,
That his defence against axes was woeful.

I am repeatedly impressed by the eloquence of the Quivini!

To win love, the youngsters strain
Flashing blades, blood and pain;
Erinestra earns the lover's hand
To luckless Eodal, a plot of land.

Fabulous, marvellous, encore!

But sadly the competition was last month.

Without wanting to be insensitive and mercenary about the whole thing... did you pick a winner?

Tribal post is so slow, I wrote it last month but the poor mail carrier reached Boldhome no faster than I did. 8-)
Never mind, I can keep it back for the next heartstruck fool who falls to a romantic duel.
