I would be delighted for you to lead the ceremony in the 3rd week of Late Sea. I will not be able to attend myself as I shall be at the Feast for the visiting Esrolian Envoy. As far as I am concerned, so may lead ceremonies whenever you wish, and I have no doubt that you will conduct them excellently.

Announcement: Quatlu contacts all five of the individuals who issued challenges to him at the recent Royal event to establish the ground rules for these formal, ritual proving matches. All are scheduled for the beginning of Late Sea season. He reiterates that these are not blood feuds, but rather traditional proving matches conducted in a friendly spirit, and no one expects any real injury to be inflicted. With this in mind, he offers each of those challenging him to a duel to the first blood, with an elder to witness that everything was done by the book. By this means, the nobles are shown to still hold their rightful rank, and that Quatlu has the courage to stand behind his words of friendship, and no dishonor sticks to either side. After the duels, everyone's honor will be settled, and the friendships that were declared can continue without giving offense to the gods or the ancestors. This is the old Orlanthi way of keeping the world properly balanced.
If this is not acceptable to any of the five who challenged Quatlu to a duel, please respond to this announcement so that Quatlu may rearrange the order in which the duels are resolved. Otherwise, we shall presume that all duels are to be fought to the first blood.
Rufus will ask the Army commander to appoint Rufus as brigadier. Effectively, this is asking for each brigadier (Quatlu excluded) to resign and Rufus be appointed in their place - sequenced as the most senior command first (not Guards obviously). Hope that is OK.
