1632 - 12 (Late Storm) - Turn Report

Titles
King Argrath decided to bestow Lt Warlords Garoor and Grumbold with the title of Baron.

They (and Baron Torben) are invited to receive their new titles at the Royal Spring Feast in week 4 of 1633 - 2 (Early Sea Season).

Appointments
Bvt Warchief Quatlu was reappointed Brigadier of the Guards Brigade, but Bvt Warchief Baron Afur was not appointed Brigadier of the Cavalry Brigade.

Money Matters
Drighten Erik and Selena engaged in conspicuous consumption.

Cult Reprimands
Assistant Priest of Storm Bull and Lay Member of Orlanth Garoor was publicly reprimanded by both cults for not participating in a single ceremony during this, the cults’ holy period.

Likewise, Orlanth Lay Member Grumbold received a public reprimand.

Week 1
Selena brought Arng to the market where they participated in an Issaries ceremony led by Chief Priestess Erinynn, showing conspicuous piety.
Afur brought Sod and Erik brought Yealla to the Royal Feast at the Queen’s Palace where they caroused and toadied to Queen Inkarne.

At the feast, Erik was granted the title of Lord by King Argrath.

Week 2
Afur participated in a ceremony at the temple of Orlanth showing conspicuous piety.

Erik participated in the Ring Assembly at the Queen’s Palace.

Selena performed her second week of cult duties by participating in another Issaries ceremony.

Week 3
Erik participated in a second week of Ring Assembly at the Queen’s Palace.

Week 4
Assistant Priest Erik lead a ceremony at the temple of Orlanth. Yealla and Selena were among the participants.

Rune Lord Afur lead a ceremony at the temple of Ernalda.

A rider had come up the Royal Road flying a banner none had seen in Boldhome for some time: the white bear skull on black. Harrek the Berserk’s mark.

Not Harrek himself (the gods be praised) just one of his envoys. A hard-faced man in furs stiff with salt from distant seas, a white bear-claw necklace at his throat. The rumors reached the marketplace before the rider even reached the gates:

“It’s a demand. Has to be.”

“Maybe Harrek wants silver.”

“Or maybe he comes to remind King Argrath that the White Bear isn’t dead yet.”

Mothers pulled children indoors. Old men muttered prayers to Orlanth. No one ever forgot the stories: how Harrek slew a god, how he rampaged across the seas with his Wolf Pirate fleet, how even kings bled before him.

From the square below the Queen’s Palace, ordinary folk could only glimpse banners moving through the gates, hear the horns sounding the envoy’s arrival.

Inside, they said the man carried Harrek’s words like a spear: blunt, deadly, no softening. Not threats... but reminders. Of the White Bear’s friendship with King Argrath. Of his victories far to the west. Of what happened to those who crossed him.

To the average Boldhome citizen, it was one more shadow over their heads. They’d seen envoys from Esrolia with silks and honeyed words, Lunar spies dragged through the streets in chains, even Praxian khans on shaggy beasts.

But Harrek’s name carried something else. Fear, yes. But also a kind of awe.

When the envoy rode out again the next day, the market hummed with talk:

“What did he want?”

“No one’s saying.”

“If the White Bear comes here himself… may the gods save us all.”

And then life went on, as it always did. Bread to bake. Sheep to shear. But everyone remembered the banner with the bear skull, black against the mountain sky.

War

The Sartarite forces were ordered to lay siege to the Tarshite village of Crimson Acre.

As Warlord Baron Rufus arrived with the rest of the Guards Brigade, Brigadier Bvt Warchief Quatlu laid out the strategy. Unfortunately, the Lunars seemed well prepared. Their hidden reserves surged out of the fortress and broke the Brigade. Quatlu did show bravery and was promoted to full Warchief. His Brigade-thane Hundred-thane Julian would have been promoted had there been a vacancy, but was mentioned in a battlesong instead, and will be considered for a title.

Lt Warlord Grumbold led the Royal Foot Guards and managed to make the best of the decisions made by the brigadier, leading to an inconclusive result for his regiment. For his bravery he was mentioned in a battlesong. He also manage to loot almost a thousand Lunars.

Rufus led Mularik’s Company and managed to make the best of the decisions made by the brigadier, leading to an inconclusive result for his regiment. For his bravery he was mentioned in a battlesong and promoted to Bvt Warchief. Lt Warlord Baroness Ivarenna was mentioned in battlesongs for her tactics and bravery in leading her battalion (she would have been promoted had there been a vacancy). She also carry away well over a thousand Lunars worth of loot.

The Sambari levy’s contribution to all of this was inconclusive. Lt Warlord Erinestra's performance leading her battalion of the Free Philosophers was excellent though, and she was promoted to Warlord.

The Kheldon levy’s contribution was also inconclusive. Lt Warlord Baron Harold's performance was perfect though, and he will once again be considered for the title of Drighten.

It was the Snakepipe Dancers that would save the day. Bvt Warchief Baron Torben masterfully exploited the situation when the Lunars drove back the Guards Brigade, and stormed the now only lightly defended village. Once they were inside, the Lunars were weakened by their assault on the Guards and uncapable of reclaiming the village. It is liberated. Baron Torben was mentioned in battlesongs and looted more than a thousand Lunars. Lt Warlord Garoor also participated in the looting, carrying home more than 500 Lunars.

All forces return to Boldhome in time for Sacred Time.
