In 1633-1 several new tribal hostilities will be added to align the game with the Gloranthan lore.
When I looked at the effect of the new hostilities, I realized our two merchants will be hostile to Colymar, the most common tribe. It would be a disaster for their businesses. So we need a way to change tribe.
Suggestions:
A character marrying someone from another clan may change tribal allegiance to that of the partner.
and
A character that has visited a tribe at least three times may apply to join that tribe, unless their new tribe is hostile to their present. They will be accepted on 6+ on a 1D6. They get a positive modifier of CHA/6 rounded down, +1 for each gift of CHAx3, and -1 for each current NiS.
Tribal hostilities and changing tribe
Re: Tribal hostilities and changing tribe
Erik regards both Erinestra and Grumbold as friends and would be reluctant to draw blade against them. However he has no intention of leaving the Colymar tribe, If his friends wish to change tribes that must be a choice for them to take.
Re: Tribal hostilities and changing tribe
I (not my character, since this is in Game Rules)think the suggestions for changing tribe are sensible without losing the Gloranthan flavour. But perhaps characters who discover that they are suddenly at feud because Chaosium have changed the rules could be given a dispensation? I would suggest an immediate change to one of three tribes chosen randomly, or conversely the player selects three tribes and the GM (with or without dice) chooses which one the character is inducted into.

Re: Tribal hostilities and changing tribe
I for one welcome the new tribal hostilities.
Rather than changing tribes could we not have the possibility of declaring honour to be satisfied after duelling once with a tribal enemy?

Re: Tribal hostilities and changing tribe
Also, if a character has left his tribe for no good reason (a good reason being marriage pretty much) then other members of that tribe might feel insulted and want to duel the leaver?

Re: Tribal hostilities and changing tribe
I think it might be a good idea to let current merchants change tribe without hassle, as the rule change impacts them more than anyone else.
In addition to "one more thing to keep track of" I'd really like to see more duels.the possibility of declaring honour to be satisfied after duelling once with a tribal enemy?
Yes, but again, "one more thing to keep track of".if a character has left his tribe for no good reason (a good reason being marriage pretty much) then other members of that tribe might feel insulted and want to duel the leaver?

Anything that increases the admin burden on Puckohue must significantly increase the gaming experience before being accepted.
Indeed, is there stuff we ought to delete/simplify to make it easier for him to run the game?

Re: Tribal hostilities and changing tribe
Those Colymars seem to be an argumentative lot despite associating themselves to the Earth Mother cult. Three tribal enemies!
I'm happy to adopt my wife's tribe to avoid hostilities with my Colonel and other bigwigs, they seem to be quite sensible bunch.

Argumentative? Nonsense, the Colymars are a reasonable, tolerant, peace loving tribe, and we'll fight anyone who says otherwise!grumbold99 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 9:56 pm Those Colymars seem to be an argumentative lot despite associating themselves to the Earth Mother cult. Three tribal enemies!
