1631 - 3 (Late Sea) - Turn Report

Post by Puckohue »

The Last Days of Spring

Longer days, warmer temperatures, and the blossoming of flowers and trees reaching their peak. The people of Boldhome enjoy the season of birth.

Afur took out a loan from the moneylenders. So did Broar, in order to pay back an old debt.

Erik's attempts to convince an Assistant Rune Lord of Orlanth to step down end in disappointment.

Ondureen, seeking to elevate her position, invests in the rank of Hundred-thane within the Snakepipe Dancers regiment. Meanwhile, Baron Rufus receives a reprieve from one of his weeks of cult duties.

Conspicuous consumption becomes a shared indulgence, as Afur, Broar, Erik, Fionn, Griselna, Harold, and Jarrek partake in the pleasures that wealth and prosperity can offer. Griselna becomes a regular patron at Fantarn’s.

Week 1

Griselna embraced the teachings of Orlanth, stepping into the cult as an Initiate. Fionn sought solace and companionship at the temple of Uleria, immersing himself in the intimate rituals of the goddess.

At the temple of Orlanth, a diverse group including Julian, Quatlu with Darra, Jarrek, Harold, Broar, Afur with Sod, and Erik with Yealla, engaged in worship. Their participation included ceremonies and expressions of piety, with Harold, Quatlu, and Julian showcasing conspicuous devotion. God-talker Quatlu, mindful of his Colymar brethren, extended his attention to Sword Brothers Erik and Julian, and Sword Brothers Jarrek and Harold. God-talker Erik, in his customary manner, warmly greeted everyone, except Broar.

Meanwhile, Erinestra and Grumbold found themselves at the temple of Issaries, participating in a ceremony and extending toadying gestures towards the Assistant Priest. Grumbold's conspicuous piety was evident in his actions during the rites.

Week 2

Broar faced disappointment as his application for the position of Regimental Healer of the Royal Foot Guards was met with rejection.

Fionn, determined to find his place among various groups, faced initial setbacks in joining the Free Philosophers and Tosti’s Company. However, his perseverance led him to become a member of the Wolf Runners, where he acquired the rank of Ten-thane.

As the anticipation for the spring feast heightened for many, Grumbold, Harold, and Julian chose a different path, dedicating their week to seeking intimate companionship at the temple of Uleria.

The Queen's Spring Feast

In the Queen’s Palace, the guests celebrated the closing ceremonies of the spring with a grand feast and jubilant festival.

Among the guests were Sod (with Afur), Yealla (with Erik), Erinestra (with Arng), Griselna, Darra (with Quatlu), and Baron Rufus. And of course the Durulz envoy from Duckpoint.

Before the feast began in earnest, Griselna, being a noble child of a Drighten, had to defend her honor regarding the apparent status of some of the guests.

Griselna vs Quatlu
Griselna chose to fight with a spear, and Quatlu with his battle axe. Griselna attacked first, but Quatlu riposted, drawing first blood. Quatlu counter-attacked. Griselna blocked the attack and placed Quatlu in a disadvantageous position, leaving him open for a hit which left him off balance. Griselna followed up with a definite hit that kept Quatlu off balance, and then another definite hit making Quatlu surrender and return home to take care of his wounds.

Griselna vs Erik
Next in line to try to handle Griselna was Erik who, like Griselna, was armed with a spear. It was obvious to all onlookers that Erik was the more skilled with the weapon. Erik immediately scored a definite hit, leaving Griselna off balance. And another definite hit, at which point Griselna surrendered and returned home.

The Feast
Nobles and commoners alike gathered in the halls, recounting tales of their encounters with the ephemeral wonders that marked springtime. Tales of talking trees and elusive spirits became the currency of storytelling, shared under the starlit night sky.

Although they arrived separately, it was obvious that Baron Rufus and Daraea Theinissasdaughter are a couple.

Erik managed to attract the attention of the Queen, who was so pleasantly entertained she decided to give him a Small Mansion in the countryside outside the walls of Boldhome.

Week 3

Erik honed his spear skills through rigorous practice at Mularik’s barracks, while Fionn dedicated time to refining his broadsword techniques at the Wolf Runners barracks. Jarrek, on the other hand, focused on perfecting the art of the battle axe at Goldgotti’s barracks.

In the realm of spiritual pursuits, Afur and Sod ventured to the temple of Ernalda, engaging in ceremonies and paying respects to the priestess. Broar and Grumbold participated in a ceremony at the temple of Chalana Arroy, offering their toadies to the high priestess. Meanwhile, Griselna and Baron Rufus found themselves at the temple of Orlanth, partaking in a ceremony and expressing their reverence to the assistant priest.

Harold and Quatlu delved deeper into their studies at the temple of Orlanth, seeking a profound understanding of their chosen path.

Erinestra, ever the entrepreneur, attended to the affairs of her shop, ensuring its smooth operation.

The Front

In the ongoing operations against the Lunars in Tarsh, the Snakepipe Dancers faced inconclusive outcomes. Unfortunately, Hundred-thane Ondureen, making a tactical misjudgment, fell victim to an ambush and lost her life.

The Cinsina Tribal Levy, in their attempt to assault the Lunars, also encountered inconclusive results, with Warrior Saling among the casualties.

Summer Is Coming

With the fading days of spring, an air of anticipation filled the atmosphere. Though the breathtaking sunsets marked the end of one season, they also hinted at the imminent arrival of another—the heat of summer and the commencement of the war campaign.

Warking Gananvar Tolaison (Lo) issued orders for all three armies to mobilize towards the Lunar front.
