I am applying for it this turn. All are considered vacant (or NPCs) in this turn though a PC gets +1 if incumbent. Promotion wise the next step might be to move to a Brigade with a higher SP bonus, or to higher ranks or sideways into Quartermaster. if there are two PCs with Bvt brigadier in same Bri...

I Afur, hereby apply for command of the Cavalry Brigade, as clearly the best choice for the job!

Should I fail to get that post, then I apply for the post of Quartermaster General of Field Army if it is vacant!

You may apply for any Brigade command once have achieved the full rank.

All Brigade commands come up for renewal this coming month.

If your Brigade is at the front and you command a regiment, and are Bvt already, you could take over the command should the Brigade commander be killed or captured.

Just check rules as some (most?) regiments - require recruits to be members of a warrior Cult (or other in some cases)
